Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, it is very common people are using smart phone while they are driving which cause dangerous cosequences for vehicle drivers and others as well. I completely agree to make it illegal for safety measures.
Firstly, it is very problamatic situation while individuals are using technical gedgets like cell phone, tablets and etc at the moment of driving. They have easily distracted by them while talking with others or using social media. Because of that they hit their vehicle to other vehicles or other individuals. In a recent servey of 2026, more than 50% of accidents happened last year because of distractions by cell phone or other technical equipment while driving vehicles. Government should take some critical steps to make this very strict and illegal for safety for citizen.
Moreover, excesive use of this gedgets easily make drivers lazy and make them very relaxing while driving. As it is necessary to have full control on cars, bikes and any other transportation vehicle while individuals are on driving seat. It is not just for their own's safety, but they risk their lives and risk for many more citizens who are walking on street or going somewhere else in other vehicles. There are people who keep talking with their family or friends, watching or listening music while driving. Due to that they forget that they are on roads or sometimes with music they increase their speed of vehicles and put risk on everyone. For example, lots of drivers are using smart phones for listening music or watching movie or sport which results in accidents and other life costing situations.
In addition, nowadays, there is a trend of posting a story or a snap on social media in gen z children. They watch many of their friends do this while driving and they want to do the same thing because of that sometimes they loose control over their vehicle and ended their lives for just on social media post. It is becoming more and more common in children. They just want to stay with trends and make some influence in others. It is responsibility of their parents to stop them and giving some important lessons which teach them overall safety precautions.
To conclude, Using any gedgets which easily distract one it should be prohibitated for drivers. It also requires for not just drivers safety but for all of these who are on street or road. It should be illegal by government and their responsiblity control over it. There are some moral responsibility of parents and school to teach their children and students about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear and consistent position in complete agreement with the prompt. Relevant ideas are introduced to support this stance, such as driver distraction, the hazards of using technology while operating a vehicle, and social media trends among younger drivers. However, while the main position is clear, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, the mention of Gen Z social media habits is introduced but remains somewhat general and lacks a deeper exploration of how legislation specifically curtails this behavior. The response fully satisfies the requirements of the lower band and demonstrates some features of the next level through its clear overall stance and relevant supporting arguments, though further extension and consistent depth across all paragraphs are still needed to reach higher standards.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and every paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the argument. Information and ideas are generally organized in a logical sequence, moving from general safety concerns to specific modern distractions like social media. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In addition'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in repetitive transitional patterns and occasional lapses in the logical flow between sentences within paragraphs. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate main ideas, but smoother transitions and more flexible referencing would elevate the organizational structure further.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary to express ideas about driving safety and technology. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the response, such as 'cosequences', 'problamatic', 'gedgets', 'servey', 'excesive', 'prohibitated', and 'responsiblity'. While these vocabulary and spelling errors do not completely impede communication, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical repertoire. The student attempts to use less common items like 'precautions' and 'distractions', but frequent inaccuracies in spelling and collocation prevent the writing from achieving a higher level of lexical precision and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying on a mix of simple forms alongside some attempts at complex sentences. However, these attempts at complex structures are often faulty, featuring awkward phrasing and incorrect preposition use within grammatical patterns, such as 'at the moment of driving', 'hit their vehicle to other vehicles', and 'risk on everyone'. There are frequent errors in grammar, articles, plurals, and punctuation, including missing articles and incorrect verb forms like 'people are using smart phone while they are driving which cause'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning usually remains discernible.
