Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is irrefutable that using mobile phones while driving is harmful for the driver and it made him distracted. I am fully agree with this notion that drivers using cell phones should be made illegal. I would explain in the following paragraphs with examples.

To start with, it is very popular nowadays to use cell phone all the time and people also forget that they are driving on the road because of what many accidents happenend on highways everyday reason of that is distraction. It is one of the prominent reason of mishappenings on the road. Consequently, there are lakhs of deaths on the road everyday. For example, In 2025 it was my friend who died in car accident with his family because of someone else mistake which cannot be paid off.

Secondly, usage of mobile phone in a car also dangerous for other people who gets to suffer for someone else's mistake. Everyone has a tight schedule these days and are always in a rush but that does not mean that innocent people get hurt. Subsequently, there should be heavy penalties and fines for the mobile phone user drivers along with license suspension and imprisonment. Government should take strict action against this behaviour and should aware people about it.

In conclusion, mobile usage while driving is harmful for the drivers and others as well and it should be overcome very soon. Government officials and higher authorities should take strick action against this habit and should make law and policy to declare this illegal so that folks can be safe on the roads.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you fully agree that drivers’ cell-phone use should be illegal, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, including distraction, road deaths, harm to other road users, and possible penalties. The personal example about your friend also makes the consequences concrete. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the first reason is linked to accidents and deaths, while the second mainly repeats that innocent people may be harmed and then lists punishments. Develop that point by explaining how a legal ban and enforcement would reduce risk, and make the example’s connection to phone use explicit. More precise support would make the argument more fully developed and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion reinforces your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To start with,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, some links are mechanical, and the first body paragraph packs several claims into one long sentence, making the relationship between widespread phone use, distraction, and accidents less clear. “Consequently” introduces deaths, but the cause-and-effect link would be stronger if explained directly. The second paragraph also moves quickly from other people’s safety to penalties and public awareness. Use clearer transitions between these points and divide long sentences so each paragraph develops one main idea in a more controlled progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “distracted,” “accidents,” “penalties,” “license suspension,” and “imprisonment,” and some choices convey the seriousness of the issue. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural: “prominent reason of mishappenings,” “usage of mobile phone in a car,” and “should be overcome” are examples. Spelling errors such as “happenend” and “strick” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than repeating “harmful” and “mistake”; for instance, describe phone use as a “major cause of collisions” and say that authorities should “raise public awareness.” This would improve clarity and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. For example, “I am fully agree” should be “I fully agree,” while “usage of mobile phone in a car also dangerous” needs a verb and more accurate article use. In “people … forget that they are driving … because of what many accidents happen,” the clause structure is faulty; separate the ideas or use a clear cause-and-effect construction. There is also a tense problem in “it made him distracted.” Practise checking each sentence for a complete verb, consistent tense, and clear clause boundaries.
