Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modren era, the useage for smart phone has increased and sometimes people use it while driving which causes the accident. I think cell phone use by drivers ought be made illegal the reasons behind this, I am going to discuss in the fourtcoming paragraphs.

First and foremost, the safety of others on roads are everyone responsibility. To be elaborate it, many times accidents happens due to careless or distraction by phone. So, people should try to avoid the use their cell phone while driving and they can plane their route map at home instead watching a map in car or planing a trip. This is beacuse its help to reduce the road accidents and enhance the safety.

Furthermore, government should impliment the new law on driving rules and regulation like as if someone caught using their phone while driving, their licence ought be banded for certain periods or canceled. Therefore, with the help to srtict law and regulations, individual try to avoid use the phone while driving. For example, in Europe countries, autheries have stirct control on illegal driving by the rules as well as in many cities have traffic cameras which assist to reduce the accident.

In conclusion, have a good control on bad driving is beneficial either of public safety or courts as its reduce the burdan of crime cases in country like as whose fault in accident.Hence, they can pay more focus on other issue. According to me, cell phone use by drivers should be made illegal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that drivers’ cell-phone use should be illegal, and you give relevant reasons about road safety and stricter penalties. The suggestions to plan a route before driving and to suspend or cancel licences help address the issue, while the reference to traffic cameras offers an example. However, some points are asserted rather than explained—for instance, the claim that stricter laws will make people avoid phones would benefit from a clearer explanation or a specific example. The conclusion also introduces the burden on courts without developing that idea. The response is 242 words, so it is 8 words below the 250-word minimum; the 9 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop your supporting points further and meet the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “To be elaborate it” does not clearly introduce the explanation, and the transition from road safety to licence penalties could be made more explicit. The conclusion’s reference to “courts” and “other issue” is difficult to connect to the preceding argument. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and ensure pronouns and references identify their meaning. This would make the overall progression more consistently clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “road accidents,” “safety,” “traffic cameras,” and “rules and regulation,” so the reader can understand your main concerns. There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “strict law and regulations.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “modren,” “useage,” “impliment,” and “burdan.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “have a good control on bad driving” and “caught using their phone.” Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for enforcement and distraction would help you express the argument clearly without relying on repeated general words such as “use” and “accident.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because it causes the accident” and a conditional example beginning “if someone caught using their phone.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “ought be made illegal,” “the safety of others on roads are everyone responsibility,” and “accidents happens.” The conditional also needs a complete verb form, while the opening sentence joins several ideas without clear punctuation. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, possessives, and complete conditional clauses. Building accurate shorter sentences first, then combining them with conjunctions, will improve control and readability.
