Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that drivers should not use phones, and you give relevant reasons, including distraction, accidents, injuries, and penalties. The examples referring to Nepal also connect the argument to a real context. However, the response does not fully develop the central question of whether phone use should be made illegal: most of the discussion explains why avoiding phones is beneficial, rather than explaining why a legal ban is necessary or how it should be enforced. Some claims, such as drivers being imprisoned for many years, are asserted without explanation. Develop each main reason with a clearer link to legislation and a specific supporting example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterpoint-style paragraph, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the second body paragraph moves from traffic rules to passenger happiness and government encouragement without showing how these points connect. Linking expressions are also repetitive or awkward, and some sentences run together, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Give each paragraph one clear focus, order its supporting points logically, and use accurate transitions and sentence boundaries to make the argument easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “distracted,” “traffic rules,” “injuries,” and “fine and penalties,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially references to accidents, rules, and penalties. Some word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “unwanted death,” “concentration on driving focuses on the destination,” and “the person who got death.” Spelling errors such as “illegel,” “distination,” and “follw” also reduce precision. Build a more varied set of accurate collocations for road safety and legal measures, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences using “because,” “while,” and “which,” and you also use some simple sentences to state your position. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently. For example, “I totally agrees” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “receiving or texting messages … causes distractions to motorists, results happening” does not form a clear grammatical sequence. Several sentences also lack a complete structure or contain punctuation that obscures the meaning. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time and check that each sentence has a clear main verb.
