Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is no doubt Mobile phones become a part of our lives , whereas while driving it creates threaten to the life to make driver distracted and some people think government needs to put a bann of using phone when we are driving . I am partially agree with this statement and i will discuss my viewpoints in the upcoming paragraphs.
People think that mobile phone use create a lot of trouble while driving. Nobody drives without music in this era , at the sametime i can say rush driving cases increase too but that causes a lot of problem sometime we use the phone to change the song or maybe to reply somebody’s message so it distract our mind . For example, last year i booked uber and uber driver was texting somebody continuously and it was snowing so bad our car skid from the snow and we got stuck in the middle of the road i was going for an appointment i missed that and also appointment fees was non refundable.
On the other side, mobile phones has a fabulous features like google map, chat gpt etc. some of them opine that mobile phone help us to find a location in a big cities through navigation system and we do not need to ask anybody for any location. We can just put the location in google map and it shows us the time when we will arrive there or the traffic on the roads. For instance, earlier we had to ask from the people where is this store is but now we just search the address and google map saves our time and so convenient to use .
In conclusion, using a mobile phone while driving a vehicle should be minimal just use it when and where we need it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and give a recognisable, though qualified, position: “I am partially agree” and the conclusion says phone use should be “minimal.” The Uber incident is relevant and illustrates how messaging can distract a driver. You also explain the practical value of navigation, so both sides of the issue are considered. However, the response does not fully resolve whether phone use should be illegal: the benefits of maps do not explain why a legal ban should or should not allow hands-free or safely mounted use. The music and “rush driving” points are also not clearly connected to the proposed law. Develop each reason more directly and make your final position on legislation explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, a paragraph about distraction, a contrasting paragraph about navigation, and a conclusion. “On the other side” signals the change in viewpoint, and the example in the first body paragraph helps readers follow the point. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track. The discussion moves from music to speeding and then messaging without clearly showing how these points relate. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “that” in “but that causes a lot of problem” are unclear. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim, then connect each example explicitly to the question of whether phone use should be illegal.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “distracted,” “navigation system,” “appointment,” and “non refundable,” and the reader can generally understand your examples. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or imprecise, which limits clarity: “creates threaten to the life,” “rush driving cases,” and “fabulous features” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling and form errors such as “bann” and “sametime.” Aim for precise terms related to the issue, such as driver distraction, road safety, and hands-free navigation, and check common word partnerships. This would make your argument clearer and more appropriate to the formal task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional-style explanation of using maps and a longer account of the Uber journey. Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries occur across the response. For example, “mobile phone use create” needs subject–verb agreement, while “mobile phones has” has the same issue; “I am partially agree” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Several sentences run together, especially the opening and the sentence beginning “Nobody drives without music,” making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then combine them with controlled subordinate clauses and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
