Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era, using cell phones has become a commonly witness phenomenon. It is presented for consideration that using cell phone while driving should be illegal because it could distract the driver. From my perspective, it is a welcome suggestion, and its implimentation may bear some results.
First of all, using cell phone while driving could distract the driver which could result into lose control of vehicle and a massive accident. In addition, drivers can not respond quikly to any emergengy situation in the driving environment. For instance, if the car going in front suddenly stops due to technical or emergency situation, then the distracted driver could not response to the situation as quikly as normal driver.
Secondly, using cell phone while driving could change your driving behaviour by providing some bad news which could result into speeding or road rage. Moreover, using cell phone while driving is not only putting your life on risk, but also other drivers lives. For example, most of accidents happen due to one distracted driver with a phone which caused other drivers lost their lives. Additionally, people should get educated while getting their driving license and only allowed to use cell phone during emergency situation.
In conclusion, the issue of using cell phone while driving finds itself surrounded by controversy. In my opinion, government should made some strict laws against using cell phones while driving and put heavy fines if someone do so. People should also understand the consequences of this before using cell phone to create better society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support making phone use while driving illegal, and the conclusion reinforces this with a call for strict laws and fines. You address the main danger of distraction and give relevant examples, including a car stopping suddenly and the risk to other road users. This meets the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that bad news can lead to speeding or road rage would benefit from a clearer explanation, and the suggestion to allow phone use in emergencies is not reconciled with your support for a ban. Develop these points and make the policy you favour more precise to strengthen the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. This gives the essay a coherent foundation. At times, however, linking is mechanical, and repeated references to “using cell phone while driving” make the flow less natural. Some connections between ideas also need clarification: the advice about education and emergency use appears abruptly after the discussion of risk. Use more varied referencing and explain how each supporting point connects to your central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “distracted,” “emergency situation,” “road rage,” “consequences,” and “strict laws.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors reduce precision, as in “commonly witness phenomenon,” “implimentation,” “lose control,” and “putting your life on risk.” Some phrases are also awkward or repetitive, particularly the repeated wording about phone use while driving. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your argument clearer and more fluent without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if the car going in front suddenly stops…” and clauses explaining consequences. The overall meaning is generally understandable, and paragraph-level sentence construction supports your argument. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas less clear. Examples include “could result into lose control,” “the distracted driver could not response,” “government should made,” and “if someone do so.” There are also issues with articles, agreement and sentence completeness, as in “if the car going in front suddenly stops.” Practise accurate verb patterns and agreement, then proofread each sentence while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
