Student answer (Band 5.5)

Mobilephone takes the significant place in masses life in everyday routine.A chunk of socienty says cellphone should be prohibited during driving, while small section of society disagree with this statement .I Partially agree with this statement but with some extent i consider phones play vital role in some situation which i will discuss in upcomming paragraphs.

To begin with, use of cellphone during driving have grim consequences if it is not used appropirately there will be negetive outcome related to it like road accidents, and injuries to driver and passengers also it can lead to legal process also .To exemplify ,in july 2026 in texes man who wasdriving the car was busy in phone because me that he distracted and crased car in truck which caused death to his three family members including children.Along with it ,some people using phone during driving for scrolling instagram and reels which may have serious repucussions like if ones car hit other then car insurance will be increased ,meanwhile it acts as extra burden for person as expenses will incease monty to 200 to 300$ per month everyone can't afford this amount.

Counter in opposing view, cellphone have numerious benefits like google maps can be used during travelling to avoid unnesserily delays.to eloaborate it,as in living in canada we are not able to remember very road and location so map use in phone helps alot to reach on location without inconvenience.Moving further ,cellphone is kind of earings source for people who dont have work tehy can use uber eats, uberx as well as skip and other applications with car for rides whic works as earning source for people .

In conclusion, every coin has two faces as it mobile phone has both advantages as well disadvantages it depends on its usage and persons who is using cellphone so in my opion if people use it for convenience and job it will be positive outcome but if they treats it as entertainment during driving then it will have serious drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the issue and state a qualified position: you agree that phone use can be dangerous, while arguing that phones also support navigation and work. The examples of a crash and delivery or ride-hailing work are relevant to the question. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening says you “partially agree,” but the conclusion mainly says the outcome depends on how people use phones, without clearly stating whether use should be illegal. Some points also need fuller explanation. For example, the insurance-cost point is less directly connected to distraction, and the benefits of maps and work do not explain why these uses should be exempt from a ban. Make your policy position explicit and develop the strongest reasons more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph about risks, a paragraph presenting benefits, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a recognisable progression, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moving further,” and “In conclusion” help show the stages of the argument. The contrast between dangers and benefits is also easy to identify. To make the organisation more effective, use transitions that express the precise relationship between ideas rather than relying on formulaic phrases; “Counter in opposing view” is awkward and unclear. Some links within paragraphs are also abrupt, particularly the move from accidents to insurance costs. Group related points and explain how each example supports the main argument, while making references such as “it” and “this statement” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary suited to an argumentative essay, including “grim consequences,” “serious repercussions,” “convenience,” and “earning source.” However, the range is not always controlled: several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “a chunk of society,” “extra burden,” and “every coin has two faces.” Spelling errors—including “socienty,” “upcomming,” “appoprirately,” and “repucussions”—are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Some wording is also imprecise, as in “crased car in truck” and “use of cellphone.” Build a reliable set of topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. More natural choices such as “a section of the public,” “collided with a truck,” and “using a mobile phone while driving” would improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, for example the sentence beginning “To begin with” and the contrast introduced by “but.” This shows some range, but complex structures are often difficult to follow because of errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, and articles. Examples include “use of cellphone during driving have grim consequences,” “cellphone have numerous benefits,” and “if ones car hit other.” Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, especially in the crash example, which obscures the sequence of events. Practise building one complete main clause at a time, then add subordinate clauses with accurate punctuation. Check subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and articles before submitting; these corrections would make your ideas easier to understand.
