Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is an undeniable truth in these days drivers are distracted because of using a cell phone while driving. So, cell phones must be illegal. I agree with this view point. This essay will discuss some reasons of this phenomenon in the following paragraphs.
Using technical gadgets while driving is harmful because it becomes the major reason of an accidents. As people put more focus on talking or chatting instead of concentrating on driving.Due to this, they might be lost their lives. Furthermore, lost their patience is another reason which we cannot overlook. As a matter of fact, sometimes drivers might hear the bad news from their family members through mobile phone. As they can surely become not only irritated but also stressed. Owing to this, they ruin their rest of the day.For example, Last year, the famous Indian artist Salman khaan did not get success in his meeting because of having conflicts with his wife during driving. As a consequence, using a mobile phone by drivers must be illegal.
On the other hand, except make it fully illegal, using a phone should be allowed for few minutes . Sometimes answering a call could be necessary because of some personal circumstances. To exemplify, sometime driver's loved one is an emergency hospital and they have to pick a call anyway to get to know about his or her health. That is why using a phone during driving should not be illegal.
To conclude, it is clear that although drivers want to use a phone in an emergency situations , I think using a cell phone must be illegal due to an accidents and behivour changes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is stated clearly at the start: “I agree” that phone use should be illegal, and you give relevant reasons, including distraction and the risk of accidents. However, the response only partially sustains this position. The second body paragraph argues that phone use “should be allowed” in emergencies, and the conclusion returns to a ban without explaining how emergency calls should be handled. Some support is also unclear or weakly connected to the claim: the example about Salman Khan’s meeting does not clearly demonstrate a driving accident or danger. Develop fewer, more relevant reasons and explain how each supports your view; address emergency situations in a way that is consistent with your overall position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “To conclude” help signal stages in the discussion. However, progression is weakened by the shift from supporting a ban to arguing that phone use should be allowed, followed by a conclusion that again supports a ban. Some connections between ideas are also unclear: the discussion of losing patience and receiving bad news does not clearly explain the main danger of distracted driving. Plan each paragraph around one central point, use transitions to show how ideas relate, and make the conclusion resolve rather than repeat the conflicting positions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “distracted,” “concentrating,” “emergency,” and “personal circumstances,” so the reader can generally follow your meaning. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “As a matter of fact” and “Owing to this.” However, limited control of word choice and collocation sometimes makes ideas unclear or unnatural, as in “the major reason of an accidents,” “lost their patience,” and “behaviour changes.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “behivour” and “sometime,” are noticeable. Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling; for example, describe how phone use “increases the risk of a collision” rather than using unclear expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as,” and “although.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “As people put more focus … instead of concentrating on driving” as a fragment, “they might be lost their lives,” and “drivers want to use a phone in an emergency situations.” Articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries also need attention; for instance, “a accidents” and the missing space after “driving.” in the opening. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check verb patterns and singular/plural forms. Greater accuracy in these basic structures would make your ideas easier to follow.
