Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, the number of accidents on the roads are rising because of increased use of mobile devices by drivers. Most of the people become distracted while driving when they receive calls or messages. I strongly agree with this sentiment that the use of cell phone should be made illegal by the government.
The major reason, why it should be done is that it can help to reduce the number of deaths. Drivers focus less on driving when they perform some tasks such as messaging, listening to music and calling on the phone. It causes hazardous accidents on the roads, highways and the streets on a regular basis. Moreover, some drivers refuse to follow the traffic rules that are made by the government for their safety. Strict rules should be implemented on the use of cell phone for the safety of the human beings.
Another key point to consider is that the passengers are not feeling comfortable with the drivers. At present, most of the human beings rely on Uber to book a ride for their personal use. When drivers use mobile phone , it has a negative effect on the passenger as well. Consequently, people stop using new technologies. Other than that, youngsters are mainly influenced through social media to create videos while driving. At the same time, there are other individuals those are driving on the road and they get hurt by the drivers, using cell phone. As a result, innocent people get into trouble due to the addictive driver.
To conclude, using a mobile phone has various negative effects on the life of the individual. It can be controlled by the joint efforts of community and the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that cell-phone use by drivers should be illegal, and the conclusion restates the general concern. You give relevant reasons, especially the risk of accidents and harm to passengers and other road users. However, the response does not fully develop the proposed ban: it could explain why making phone use illegal is more effective than other measures, or clarify whether all use or only handheld use should be prohibited. The point about passengers feeling uncomfortable is asserted rather than explained, and the claim that people may stop using new technologies does not clearly support your argument. Develop these ideas with specific explanations or examples to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from road safety to passenger and public safety is generally understandable, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Consequently,” and “To conclude” help signal relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Consequently, people stop using new technologies” does not follow clearly from the point about drivers using phones, while “Other than that” introduces another idea without showing its precise relationship to the previous one. References such as “it” and “those” also make some sentences less clear. Use more precise links and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “distracted,” “hazardous accidents,” “traffic rules,” and “social media.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Strict rules should be implemented.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, including “the addictive driver,” “the passengers are not feeling comfortable,” and “the life of the individual.” Repetition of “human beings,” “drivers,” and “cell phone” also limits flexibility. Choose more natural expressions such as “distracted drivers,” “passengers may feel unsafe,” and “people’s lives,” and vary references to mobile-phone use. This would make your argument clearer and more idiomatic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style explanation with “when they receive calls or messages” and a result clause beginning “Consequently.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “the number of accidents … are rising” has subject–verb disagreement; “Most of the people become distracted” uses an unnecessary article; and “there are other individuals those are driving” has an incorrect relative structure. There are also inconsistent article and plural patterns, as in “use of cell phone.” Review agreement, articles, and relative clauses, and proofread punctuation and spacing. More accurate control of these forms would strengthen the range you already attempt.
