Student answer (Band 6.0)
making use of a mobile phone while driving is harmful because it casues the driver's attention to be divided, therefore handset use by motorists should be prohibited legally.
i actually agree with the fact that making use of mobile phones while driving can be really dangerous because it might lead to unforseen circumstances that might end up being devastating to human life.
i really dont have any reason to disagree with the statement because its advisable to not operate a mobile phone when driving, even though i might want to agree that there might be exceptions which permits a driver to safely make use of a mobile phone with a headset or airpods in times of emergency to answer calls while driving.
First and foremost it is important to come to terms with the fact that mobile phone usage while driving can be dangerous and has a more detrimental effect if the cell phone causes a distraction while driving that endagers life and put other motorists at risk. for instance someone who is distracted by a call on their cellphone when driving might end up endagering their life
and the life of others when an accident happens.
Secondly it is also worthy to note that cell phone usage while driving could cause damages of properties and unexpected expenses for repairs even if it doesnt lead to injuries or
endangering lives directly.
Conclusively, i would like to say that the usage of cell phones when driving could result in endangering lives and properties unnecessarily, so it is advisable that it is banned or made illegal in other to limit the obvious after effect of life and properties endangering.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that phone use while driving should be illegal, and the conclusion returns to this view. You also give relevant reasons, including distraction, risk to other road users, and damage to property. However, the discussion of exceptions—using a headset or AirPods in an emergency—is introduced but not resolved, so it is unclear whether you support a complete ban or a ban with exceptions. The examples are also general: the accident scenario illustrates the danger, but does not explain how or why it might occur. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example, and clarify your position on hands-free use to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Secondly,” and “Conclusively” help signal the order of ideas. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several points repeat the same claim that phone use endangers lives. The first supporting paragraph also repeats the risk to the driver and others without adding much explanation, while the property-damage point is not developed. Some linking language feels mechanical, and the opening sentence is very close to the task wording. Group each distinct reason into a focused paragraph, explain its consequences, and use referencing and transitions that show how the ideas connect rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “distracted,” “motorists,” “detrimental effect,” “emergency,” and “unexpected expenses.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “endangering life,” “damages of properties,” and “after effect of life and properties endangering.” Spelling errors, including “casues,” “unforseen,” and “endagers,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations such as “put lives at risk,” “property damage,” and “the consequences of accidents.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise, conventional collocations would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “even though,” and “if,” and your meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Secondly it is also worthy to note that cell phone usage while driving could cause damages of properties and unexpected expenses for repairs.” However, long sentences sometimes become difficult to manage, particularly the sentence beginning “First and foremost,” which combines several ideas without clear punctuation. There are also errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation, including the lowercase “i” throughout and the comma splice in the opening sentence. Use full stops to separate complete ideas, check capitalization, and simplify sentences when several clauses are competing for attention.
