Student answer (Band 6.0)
University education play a very crucial role to develop the nation or society. As a result, some people argue that the government should make university education free for everyone. I largly agree with this veiwpoint, I believe this trend have more positive impacts on society, such as economic growth of the nation, well-educated society, crime free country. Although, while providing free education the government found a few difficulties, but the overall impact of this scenario will overweigh its detrimental impacts.
The first and foremost reason is affordability. We all know the university education required strong financial support. Only those people can afford it who have wholesome amount of money. If the government make the university education free than all students even from poor family can pursue their study and secure their future. In addition, if all people are well educated they will support their family by getting high payed salary. As a result, all society become well-educated. Moreover, it will also help to reduce the crime in the society. When every people have good jobs, high payed salary, than nobody opt the crime like, robbery.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on free university education. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While you mention economic growth and crime reduction, these points are presented in a very brief, repetitive manner without sufficient supporting evidence or examples. To reach a higher band, you must expand your arguments with specific details or real-world examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. You use some cohesive devices like 'The first and foremost reason' and 'In addition,' which help the reader follow your argument. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of sophisticated linking words. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is functional but could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect ideas more naturally within and between paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'high payed salary' (which should be 'high-paying salary') and 'wholesome amount of money' are slightly unnatural in this context. You rely on basic vocabulary to express your ideas. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise, academic collocations and less common lexical items. For example, instead of 'make the university education free,' you could use 'subsidize higher education' or 'eliminate tuition fees.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('University education play,' 'this trend have,' 'government make') and punctuation errors, particularly the comma splice in the first paragraph. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures. To improve, you should practice using complex sentence forms, such as conditional clauses or relative clauses, and pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency.
