Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free university education. The ideas presented, such as accessibility for low-income families and the potential for a more educated workforce, are relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the point about 'equal chance' is mentioned twice without significant expansion. While the position is clear throughout, the arguments lack depth and specific, concrete examples to fully support the claims. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and perhaps a counter-argument to demonstrate a more balanced and thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To concentrating on this' are grammatically incorrect and do not function well as transitions. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'There are few points behind this circumstances'. While the overall progression is logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of cohesive devices prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Improving your range of transition signals would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'pay amount to run universities' instead of 'fund universities' or 'cover the costs'. You also use 'educations' in the plural, which is incorrect in this context. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of collocation errors limit the score. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than repeating simple terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'i am agree' (should be 'I agree'), 'who want to get' (incomplete clause), and 'it could be an great service' (article error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed before commas. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and article usage, indicates a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of fundamental sentence construction.
