Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, the question whether the university education should be free of charge is a matter of debate. In my opinion, I believe that learners should not pay for the education for two compelling reasons.
First and foremost, It provides the opportunity for all students from different backgrounds to study at the university. In other words, no matter whether the students are rich or poor. For example, some cleaver classmates do not apply to study because of their financial situation, they obliged to work instead and loose their chance to apply to study but now the university is for everyone so they can learn and improve themselves without any obstacles or issues.
According to a recent study, the number of learners have increased by twenty per cent since the government started covering the cost of the student services.
In addition, It reduces the impact of financial burden on the scholars, to explain more, pupils can focus on their exams and assignments without worrying about the tuition or any other university costs. To illustrate, they can be more productive and efficient so they can focus on other activities that boost their academic and technical skills. A recent study has shown that the average of passing rates at university have increased by thirty per cent compared to the previous years due to the governmental program.
In conclusion, studying for free at the university offers an essential advantages for them. Since it provides equity, enhances productivity and opens a multiple chances for them to improve their educational and professional skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding equal opportunity and reduced financial stress are relevant and supported by examples, although the examples provided (e.g., the 20% and 30% statistics) are somewhat generic and lack specific context. The ideas are developed sufficiently to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced explanations or real-world examples that demonstrate a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in government-funded education, rather than relying on hypothetical statistics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific point. You use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'In other words', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved. For instance, the sentence 'In other words, no matter whether the students are rich or poor' is a fragment and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that all sentences are grammatically complete will help create a more natural and sophisticated progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'compelling reasons', 'financial burden', and 'productive and efficient'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'cleaver classmates' (should be 'clever'), 'loose their chance' (should be 'lose'), and 'offers an essential advantages' (should be 'offers essential advantages'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and pluralization. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations would enhance the overall quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'the question whether the university education should be free' is missing a preposition, and 'the number of learners have increased' contains a subject-verb agreement error (should be 'has increased'). Additionally, there are issues with sentence fragments and comma splices. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and a finite verb. Reducing these recurring errors will significantly improve your score.
