Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention poverty and literacy, the explanations are brief and lack depth. For instance, the argument regarding the education sector 'falling down' is vague and lacks a clear logical link to the economic impact. To improve, you should provide more specific, well-reasoned arguments and ensure your personal position is clearly stated and maintained throughout the essay. Currently, the conclusion is somewhat abrupt and does not fully synthesize the points raised in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'over the years this had been a dramatic rise' do not logically connect to the following sentence. Additionally, some transitions are used incorrectly, such as 'agreements are overweighting the disagreement'. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that flows logically from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and contains several errors in word choice and spelling. Examples include 'funcation' (function), 'accpectable' (acceptable), 'allot' (a lot), and 'filed' (field). You also use some awkward collocations, such as 'pay the revenue' instead of 'fund' or 'subsidize'. While you attempt to use some academic vocabulary, the frequent spelling and word-choice errors occasionally impede the flow of your ideas. Expanding your vocabulary and proofreading for common spelling mistakes will significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('few individual think'), tense usage ('this had been a dramatic rise'), and awkward phrasing ('I would to discuss'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage throughout your writing.
