Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few individuals believe that the official authorities should take the ownership of running the education bodies in terms of the cost which means the college studies should be free of cost to people who would like to enroll it. I think there should be criteria based on students capability as well as family's earning limit. I strongly agree that there should be balanced approach from the government end and an individual end.

There are some countries where local authority only bare the entire expense of childrens education untill certain grade however it has been seen and analysed that students take disadvantage of it and does not pay full attention to the studies. For instance, In Canada children upto higher education till 12th class, government pays the full expense but when the research done of those children, the result came that they have received very low score and huge issue of non-attendance in the school.

On the other hand, people who take the responsibility for own studies they understand that to pay the fees of classes is not an easy job hence they learn with extreme level of sincerity and try to top the class. For instance, In India there are some poor areas where children can not afford the fees of the tuition. In addition to that there are goverment schemes which sponsors the students college expense which helps them to secure good job.

In my conclusion, I would like say to say that local insitution should helps families which can not afford to pay the expense of the childrens education and when he/she is willing to study. There should be people friendly policies and schemes which sponsors the smart individuals to pursue the further studies. In nutshell, I believe there should be balanced approach of making sure each student receive the necessary support from the goverment wherever it is required.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the pros and cons of free university education. You clearly state your position in the introduction, advocating for a balanced approach based on capability and financial need. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. The example regarding Canada is vague and lacks a clear connection to the argument, while the Indian example is more relevant but could be better integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples directly reinforce your main arguments rather than just stating general observations. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, though it introduces new nuances that could have been better explored in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'In addition to that', and 'In my conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump between the Canadian example and the Indian example lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'it' in the second paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds naturally upon the previous one will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enroll', 'sincerity', and 'pursue'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'take the ownership of running', 'bare the entire expense' (should be 'bear'), and 'take disadvantage of it'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and refining your use of academic vocabulary. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms to convey your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('local insitution should helps'), article usage ('the research done of those children'), and pluralization ('childrens education'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas in several places. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to catch basic errors in tense and agreement, and practice using a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy.
