Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a noticeable argument that government have to pay for each and every facility for their residents . Few individuals think that for their higher level of education authorities should pay their fee expenses and it should be free for every person who wants to study further . I believe that it is not easy for government to make education totally free but with the help of scholarships and student loans it is easy to some extent for everyone to take education facility .

The first and the foremost point is that , individuals who feel that government should pay totally for education , it is not possible for every country because it depends on their economic growth and other factors . As countries like London and America if young ones wants education they have to pay for that these countries are rich as compare to others . Because it is not only for profit in exchange of money they provide essential things and different kind of other facilities like sports items , lab equipments , dress and many more . Moreover , if we take any kind of service after paying then its affects positively and students give their best because they know if they are not getting passing grades their hard earned money becomes waste .

In addition , I believe that education is an important part of everyones life and it decrease to criminal rates , So government should provide some facilities like scholarships and student loans , As with these kind of facilities it is possible for every lower and middle class families to provide their children a good quality education. Scholarships are only given to the grade levels like who is having 8 level grade level in their secondary education only that students are able to take this facility . Student loans are provided on lower interest rates and only for those educators who belongs from lower class income families and paying in the duration of their course timing . With these availabilities the level of education increases and everyone achieve their goal of becoming doctor , scientist and police officer.

To conclude , although it is hard for government to provide totally free education but I believe that its not a good thing and with providing facilities like student loan and scholarships it becomes easier for every individual to get university level education.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against fully free university education, instead advocating for a system of scholarships and loans. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the argument regarding the economic burden on countries and the motivational aspect of paying for tuition. However, the development is occasionally hindered by vague generalizations, such as the claim that 'London and America' are countries, which shows a lack of precision. While the main points are supported, the explanation of how scholarships function could be more nuanced to fully reach the higher bands. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and the foremost point', 'Moreover', and 'In addition', though some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of economic growth and the benefits of paying for services is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their opinions clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'economic growth' and 'essential things', but the range is somewhat limited. Some word choices are imprecise or non-standard, such as 'educators' to refer to students and 'availabilities' to refer to financial aid options. Additionally, there are minor errors in collocation, such as 'it decrease to criminal rates' instead of 'it decreases crime rates'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'if young ones wants education they have to pay for that these countries are rich as compare to others'. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government have to pay') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas before conjunctions. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors means that the control of grammar is not yet consistent enough for a higher band.
