Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is mostly argued by majority of individuals that cost of higher education should be paid by the higher authorities. I largely agree with this notion, I will share my view points in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, there are a plethora of benefits if policy makers pay the fee of college going students. The predominant one is every one can get the opportunity to study. As, it can be commonly observed that most of the time, due to financial issues some students are unable to fulfill their dreams. One the other side, people who are already rich they do not want to study, they just want to buy exams or they will get a job buy showing they more money.

Apart from this, the second major benefit of this trend will be, literacy

rate. To explicate it, as mostly in the rural areas, due to poverty there are very less chance that learners get the opportunity to get even secondary education due to less money. To cite an example, a survey was conducted by the education minister in 2025 revealed the 65% of the students retrieved from the education because of the higher fee of universities.

On the other hand, it can also be predicted that universities may need funds to run it properly, as there are to many expenses such as, managing electric bills, water bills, and the salary for the professors. Moreover, all these things need proper management of funds.

In the epilogue, there are more benefits if authorities pay the fee for learners; however, its drawback can not be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of free education, the arguments are brief and lack depth. For instance, the point about wealthy students is slightly confusing and not fully linked to the main argument. The counter-argument regarding funding is relevant but remains underdeveloped. To improve, ensure that each main point is supported by a clear explanation and a more detailed, logical example. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and does not fully summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Apart from this', and 'In the epilogue'. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'In the epilogue' to conclude an essay. Additionally, the referencing within sentences is sometimes unclear, which occasionally disrupts the flow of information. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always explicit.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on some repetitive or slightly inaccurate phrasing, such as 'higher authorities' and 'buy exams'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'retrieved from the education' instead of 'withdrew from education'. While your meaning is clear, the vocabulary is somewhat basic. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing by using synonyms and more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of education and government policy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the education minister'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments. For example, 'As, it can be commonly observed' is punctuated incorrectly, and 'there are to many expenses' contains a spelling error. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors and work on constructing more complex sentences with greater accuracy, particularly regarding punctuation and preposition usage.
