Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of free university education. However, the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay. While you mention both sides, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding part-time jobs is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of its broader societal impact. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your arguments are supported with more specific, logical reasoning rather than general statements. The conclusion introduces new information about scholarships, which should have been integrated into the body paragraphs as part of a coherent argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover', their usage is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as the transition 'Therefore, some students are doing part-time job'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother narrative flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'amout', 'drwabacks', 'nagetive', and 'govenment', which occasionally impede readability. You rely on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'bad', and 'a lot of', which does not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('a large number of individuals wants'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary complexity to demonstrate a wide range of structures. For example, 'if government dose this then it it can be beneficial' contains both a typo and a redundant pronoun. While the meaning is generally understandable, the persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation significantly impact the overall quality of the writing. Focus on mastering simple sentence structures before attempting more complex ones.
