Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, education plays a significant role for better future. There is an ongoing debate about: some individuals think that the universities should be provide free education to everyone and the authority should manage the all costs. I partially agree with this view because free education can be enable for middle class family, but government also have other crucial responsibilities. This essay will explain merits and demerits about this statement.
On the one hand, one of the primary reasons is why education should be free and government should pay for that because institutes charges higher amount fees which can not be afford by poor families due to financial issues. which cause most of the talent pupils could not gain the knowledge as like other learners. Moreover, if government provide fees for students, pupils can give more focus on their study. They can get relief from stress of the tuition charges. As a result, everyone can either gain education and stay more focus on study.
On the other hand, there are several reasons why government should not pay to universities. Firstly, authority have others main responsibilities such as maintain country economy, build roads, and hospitals. If government pay to collages then how they maintain the economy. In addition, some families can afford fees of their children. They ca manage tuition fees. However, authority should pay for those learners who are belong to middle class family not for everyone.
In conclusion, although government can provide free education to everyone through the collage without any discrimination, government can not afford everyone fees as they can pay for poor children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear, albeit partially developed, position. You successfully identify the merits of free education and the counter-arguments regarding government budget constraints. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'maintaining the economy' is mentioned but not fully explained. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is expanded with more specific reasoning or illustrative examples. Your position is consistent throughout, which is a strength, but the conclusion could be more robust by summarizing your main arguments more effectively rather than repeating the idea of targeting aid to middle-class families.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'Firstly' to signal transitions between ideas. While the overall progression is logical, the use of these devices can feel a bit mechanical at times. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, such as the fragmented sentence 'which cause most of the talent pupils...' and the repetitive use of 'government' and 'authority'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally into one another would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'tuition charges', 'financial issues', and 'discrimination'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward word choice or collocation, such as 'talent pupils' (should be 'talented pupils') and 'collages' (likely meant 'colleges'). There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express your ideas with greater nuance and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('government also have', 'authority have'), article usage ('the all costs'), and word order or sentence fragments ('which can not be afford by poor families'). While these errors do not completely obscure your meaning, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of passive voice and modal verbs, and proofread carefully to correct subject-verb agreement and article errors.
