Student answer (Band 6.0)

Undoubtedly education plays an important role in shaping future of the youngsters in the country. Therefore few people believe that the governing authorities should pay charges of universities which run undergraduate and graduate courses for students. As a result education will be free for the aspirants who dreamt of a bright future in their life. I partially agree to the giving statement as providing free education can be beneficial for the ones who really want to work hard but it put an additional burden on the ecomonic condition of a nation.

To commemce with the points agreeing to the former notion, the predominant one is some families are very much financially challenged that their young generation are not getting opportunities to pursue education of their interest inspite of having calibre and talent .Therefore government should contribute for their studies. Moreover ,a large portion of the budget is spent on education as a result the taxes paid by the people newd to be used for the betterment of the youth of the nation

On the contrary , free tertiary education is not a good option because large expenses need to be spent on this sector to satisfy the cost of wages of teaching faculties as well as maintenanace of the premises of institutions which eventually hampers the growth of other sectors of nation. Additionally amy thing provide d free of cost is taken for granted by youth and some of them may not work hard to achieve betrer results.

To recapitulate, i would like to state that free of cost higher education helps portion of youth to fulfill their dreams but making it entirely free converts this chance of growth in life into missed opportunity

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments for both sides of the issue, such as financial accessibility for talented students versus the economic burden on the state and the risk of students taking free education for granted. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'maintaining premises' is a good start, but it could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and could more effectively summarize your balanced view.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', 'On the contrary', and 'To recapitulate', to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and punctuation, such as the missing space after the period in the first paragraph and the inconsistent use of commas. Improving the flow between sentences within paragraphs would help achieve a more natural and sophisticated progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'aspirants', 'predominant', 'tertiary education', and 'calibre'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'ecomonic', 'newd', 'amy', and 'betrer', which are distracting. Furthermore, some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'giving statement' instead of 'given statement' or 'satisfy the cost of wages' instead of 'cover the costs'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accuracy in spelling to avoid impeding the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'the youngsters', 'the governing authorities'), subject-verb agreement, and missing prepositions. For example, 'some families are very much financially challenged that their young generation are not getting opportunities' is grammatically awkward. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after periods and commas. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they occur frequently enough to limit the score in this criterion.
