Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that expenses to educate the country denizens is the responsibility of government, hence it should be free for everyone. Other believe the people should pay for their own education. I partially disagree with this notion as totally free education can be hard to maintain for government and taking tons of money from student can lead to uneducated individuals.

One of the main disadvantage of authority funded education is can very hard for government to maintain especially in long term. Free off cost educational institutes can become crowded leading to more expenses for institutes and the government leading the increase in the taxes or less development of the nation. For example, In early 2000's Britain decided to make their government institutes free of cost leading to a 10% fall in their overall economy in just half decade leading them to make it even more expensive.

Although, costless education can have huge negative impacts on economy but, it is important for country citizens to get higher education. The higher educational cost of universities can lead to loss of talented individual impacting in long term. Moreover, education make individual more mature which is directly related to country growth. One of the simplest solution for this problem is the Free educational programs, which can be joined by passing some tests so that only talented or hardworking people can get the education they deserve.

To conclude, both free of cost and expensive education are bad for overall nation economy. However, by giving the free education to only those people who are worthy can be the best solution for this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both sides of the argument and provided a balanced view. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Britain in the early 2000s is vague and lacks specific context, which weakens the argument's persuasiveness. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are more thoroughly explained and that your examples are more precise and relevant to the global context of university funding.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Although', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'One of the main disadvantage of authority funded education is can very hard'. The use of referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'educational institutes' and 'higher education'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'country denizens' (which sounds unnatural), 'costless education', and 'authority funded'. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and academic terminology appropriate for a formal essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'One of the main disadvantage', 'the government', 'the country growth'). Some sentences are also structurally awkward, such as 'One of the main disadvantage of authority funded education is can very hard for government to maintain'. Improving your control over basic grammar and punctuation will significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
