Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 151 words. This significant under-length prevents the development of ideas, resulting in a fragmented argument. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the supporting points are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth required for a Band 6 or higher. The examples provided, such as the reference to Japan and Delhi, are too brief to effectively support your claims. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of length and depth. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example' and 'Furthermore', but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt or mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall structure feels incomplete due to the abrupt ending of the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-developed supporting evidence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'do high paid jobs' and 'rise in a economy'. There are also some word choice errors, such as 'working of universities' instead of 'operation' or 'funding'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to economics and education, while ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I completely agree to this view' (should be 'with'), 'rise in a economy' (should be 'an'), and 'there financial background' (should be 'their'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are fragmented. While these errors do not always prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
