Student answer (Band 6.0)

Well, in this period of revolution, number of individuals say that the education should not cost them anything as the government must be taking care of the universities costs. I strongly agree with this notion and my opinion will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.

At first, I believe that most of the students who eagrly wants to study in the universities are not able to attend classes because the fees in the university is expensive. As a result, many students drop their studies. Secondly, If the government pay the costs of running universities then it will be beneficial not only for the students but also for the whole economy. As, the more educated people equals to more growth in technologies.

Moreover, people pay so much of taxes to the government and they are not getting satisfied with that. For instance, people pay taxes and they are not even provided with a secure healthcare help in case of any emergency. In addition, the main reason behind this weak health sector is that the master degree to be a doctor costs so much to the student that not everyone is able to afford that. As a consequence, there is less doctors to work at the hospitals.

To conclude my points in above paragraphs, I am in the favour of that government should take care of the expenses in the universities so that everyone who wants to study hard will get a chance. Lastly, there will be no more dops in the study and students can enjoy the freedom and become something in career.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the link between education costs, economic growth, and the healthcare sector. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding taxes and healthcare is a bit tangential and could have been more directly linked to the core issue of university funding. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific examples, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'At first', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude'. However, some of these are used in a slightly mechanical or repetitive way. The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences feels a bit disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition from tax payments to the medical profession is abrupt. Overall, the logical structure is sufficient, but the use of cohesive devices lacks the flexibility required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'eagrly wants' (eagerly want) and 'dops in the study' (dropouts). The student relies on fairly common vocabulary and struggles with some collocations. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic terminology and ensuring correct word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'number of individuals say' (a number of individuals say), 'government must be taking care' (should take care), 'If the government pay' (If the government pays), and 'there is less doctors' (there are fewer doctors). These errors are noticeable and occur in both simple and complex sentences. While the errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to subject-verb agreement and pluralization is needed.
