Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you have a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. You mention the financial burden on students and the benefits of education, but these points lack depth and specific evidence. The inclusion of personal anecdotes is acceptable, but they are not used effectively to support a broader argument. To improve, you must expand on your points with logical reasoning and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'Conclusion' to start paragraphs. Some sentences are disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates directly to your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'money', 'costs', and 'fees'. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'did not accept costs' and 'they will become more knowledge'. Spelling errors, such as 'furom' instead of 'from', also occur. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to the topic of education and economics, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations. Using more precise academic vocabulary will help convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The costs of living keeps', 'University are taking'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty, such as 'If government will be free education for poor people'. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of tenses. Proofreading your work for these common errors before finishing is essential.
