Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, such as the economic burden on the government and the potential devaluation of education. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the points are logical, the explanation in the second paragraph is slightly repetitive, and the conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a more thorough development of the final argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that all points are fully extended and that the essay reaches a complete, coherent conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Additionally', and 'However'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this essay I will elaborate my point of view why I'm not in favour of this statement as in directly it put burdon on government'. Furthermore, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes disrupted by grammatical errors. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which impacts the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward word choices and spelling errors, such as 'emloyees', 'govrenment', and 'nodoubt'. Phrases like 'put profound impact' and 'more rely on' are non-standard collocations. While the meaning is generally clear, the vocabulary is not used with enough flexibility or accuracy to reach the higher bands. Focusing on more precise academic collocations and improving spelling accuracy would significantly enhance this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the cost of study in universities are costly'), article usage ('the entire the country'), and awkward phrasing ('student will not under stand the value'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and semicolons. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting and indicate a lack of control over complex structures.
