Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent time, some people are of the opinion that government should pay the costs of running higher institutions so that a university education will be free of charge for people who wants it. I greatly agree to this opinion.
A reason for this is because young adults will have the right to a sound education. When education is made free, students do not have to worry about paying tuition fees, text books and handouts associated with their specified field of study. This creates an opportunity for them to focus more on studying and preparing for examinations. This results in great academic performance. For instance, the money that was initially intended for the payment of school fees could be used to pay for hostel accommodation and other relevant items that a student might need to live a comfortable life on campus.
Another reason to consider is that the chance to free education increases the number of graduates in the society. This is because these graduates have acquired skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking skills to be gainfully employed. This can help them to earn salaries, feed their families and live a comfortable life. Further more, these young adults after graduation can become doctors, lawyers, engineers and nurses. For example, these professionals such as a doctor, can help to treat sick individuals and recuperate them back to good health. Moreover, an engineer can help to construct roads, which could make commuting easier and faster. Overall, they all help to impact the lives of people and the economy positively.
In conclusion, the government paying for running universities helps students get good education and significantly improves their lives, society in a beneficial way or manner.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, focusing on student focus and societal benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat simplistic. For instance, the argument about graduates becoming professionals is a bit repetitive and could have been strengthened by discussing the economic impact of a more skilled workforce or the potential burden on taxpayers, which would provide a more balanced and nuanced view. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are fully explored rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'A reason for this', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is a bit repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between your points is smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to the simple structure of the connecting phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'gainfully employed', 'critical thinking', and 'recuperate'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'recuperate them back to good health' (recuperate is intransitive) and 'the chance to free education' (which should be 'the chance for free education'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Focus on using collocations more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'people who wants it' should be 'people who want it' (subject-verb agreement), and 'In recent time' should be 'In recent times'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'Further more' (should be 'Furthermore'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and basic spelling.
