Student answer (Band 4.5)
Education is a very crucial for everyone. It increase awareness and confidence among people.Education is a key to success. In 20th century,it is very necessary to gain education for successful career in future. Unfortunately, many of the children from lower society cannot get education because of poverty. however, a lot of them are very intelligent and have sharp mind, In addition they have potency to get education. Nevertheless, poor parents do not have enough money for their children,s higher education. Somehow many of them tried hard to educate their children till primary schooling from government schools. But by bad luck they cannot afford university expense. For this some people from our nation feel that government should manage the costs of running universities so that a university education will be free for everyone. Well in my opinion, Government should do this favour for its country better future. They should pay the expense of universities or they should make policies like students who get 60% or above in secondary school will get free education and who gets lower will have to pay little amount of fee. After this policy students will work hard to get admission for free.So it will work out for the betterment of out nation as well . Our students will be more educated and polished To sum up education is very important now a days . Life became very easy and robotic due to education. It also play role in country betterment and welfare so our government should help people to get education especially for those who are unable to pay the bills , fees and university expense.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether universities should be free, presenting a clear personal opinion that the government should cover costs or implement a tiered grading policy. The writer explores the challenges faced by children from poorer backgrounds, such as being unable to afford higher education despite having high intelligence and potential. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive, lacking fully elaborated examples or wider societal implications. The position is maintained throughout, fitting the Band 5 descriptor well, as the ideas are presented but remain under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay displays some basic organisation, opening with an introduction, moving to the problem of poverty and higher education, offering a proposed policy solution, and ending with a conclusion. However, paragraphing is problematic; the student uses extremely short, fragmented blocks and irregular spacing (e.g., 'Somehow many of them tried hard...'). The use of cohesive devices is frequently mechanical or inadequate, with abrupt transitions such as 'Well in my opinion' and 'After this policy'. Overall progression is hindered by choppy sentence structures and irregular paragraphing, aligning with a Band 4 to 5 profile.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, such as 'Education is a very crucial for everyone' and 'get education'. There are some attempts at less common phrasing, such as 'sharp mind', 'potency', and 'betterment of our nation', but these often suffer from awkward collocations or inaccurate word choice. Spelling and word formation errors also appear, for instance, 'children,s' and 'out nation'. The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, but frequent inaccuracies place it firmly in the Band 5 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text features a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('Education is a very crucial', 'in 20th century'), incorrect verb forms ('It increase', 'who gets lower'), and punctuation issues. Run-on sentences and comma splices also occur, such as '...have sharp mind, In addition they have potency...'. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader while simple structures predominate, the writing fits the Band 4 descriptor.
