Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is considered by some individulas that universities education would be free of cost for students who wants then govenments have to pay the expenses of universities. In my opinion, i am fully agree with this statement as this will be helpful for equal opportunities and economic growth as well.

First of all, this trend would be beneficial for those students who cannot affod universities education. As, universities charges high amount of money for admissions, which everyone cannot efford. There are number of students who are relly very good in studies, they have their targets but they are unable to go to universities, if this trend will starts, every student go to university and achieve their goals. Conseuently, everyone is eligible for same opportunity of education.

Moreover, if higher authorities will start paying for universities expenses, economic growth goes on top.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether the government should fund universities to make education free. A clear personal position is presented in the introduction, agreeing with the statement, and two main supporting ideas are introduced: equal opportunities and economic growth. However, the task achievement is severely limited by two major factors. First, the response is drastically under-length, containing only 141 words compared to the minimum requirement of 250 words. This results in significant under-development of ideas. Second, the second body paragraph concerning economic growth is left entirely underdeveloped, consisting of only a single sentence without any elaboration or examples. According to the band descriptors, this falls under Band 4, as the response is minimal and ideas are insufficiently developed to satisfy the requirements of a full task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a basic structure with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, overall progression is hindered by the extreme brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used minimally and somewhat mechanically, such as "First of all" and "Moreover". Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase "if this trend will starts, every student go to university", where pronouns and connectors fail to establish smooth logical bridges between clauses. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final body paragraph is prematurely truncated into a single sentence, failing to provide proper paragraph structure. These features align closely with Band 5 descriptors, where some organization is evident, but overall progression lacks cohesion and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The student uses a limited and repetitive range of vocabulary that is only minimally adequate for the task. There are frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as "individulas" for individuals, "affod" for afford, "relly" for really, and "Conseuently" for consequently. Attempts to use less common academic vocabulary, such as "opportunities" and "economic growth", are undermined by persistent lexical inaccuracies and misspelling. While the meaning can generally be extracted despite the errors, the vocabulary falls into Band 4 due to the basic and repetitive nature of the word choices combined with strain caused by spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic complex structures that frequently contain errors. Examples of grammatical inaccuracies include "universities education would be free" (incorrect plural/noun phrase form), "i am fully agree" (missing preposition or incorrect verb form), and conditional structure errors such as "if this trend will starts, every student go to university". Punctuation is also erratic, with lower-case capitalization used for the pronoun "i". These frequent errors in basic structures cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect the descriptors for Band 4, where errors are frequent and grammatical control is weak.
