Student answer (Band 5.0)

many people believe that government should pay money of running education so that a school education will be free for everyone.

i am agree with this statment government should pay money to the build school and universities because of in my country has many education system strong then children get away from the drugs and other bad things, on the other hand if many of money spend on the education many of the our youth educated and our youth our future genration.

Furthermore, if study is free for everyone then our children more educated and get the high position on the government job also, if student or youth more educated then our political system or health system more strong.

Also, if education is free for everyone then every single children's more educated and educated person can social work and more important thing reduced student debt so if education is free then student no need debt and they can achieve high education. Furthermore social equality if education is free for everyone then reduce discrimination for the poor and rich students.

In conclision, i agree with this statment government should more money spend on the universities and school free education for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of free university education funded by the government, supporting it with reasons such as crime reduction, career advancement, and social equality. However, the ideas remain quite limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive assertions rather than deep elaboration. Furthermore, the task requirement is not met, as the response falls 50 words short of the 250-word minimum length limit. To reach a higher level, the writer would need to extend their arguments with more detailed explanations, concrete examples, and meet the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization present, with an introduction, body points, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and paragraphs tend to string together loosely connected points without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as the frequent use of 'Furthermore' and 'Also' to introduce new thoughts. Paragraphing is also problematic, as multiple distinct ideas are lumped together into a single block rather than being separated logically. To improve, the writer needs to structure the essay into distinct, unified paragraphs and use a wider variety of cohesive ties naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, utilizing simple words like 'money', 'education', and 'children' frequently. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation, such as writing 'pay money of running education' instead of 'fund education', or 'build school' instead of 'build schools'. Spelling mistakes also appear, notably 'statment' and 'conclision'. These limitations and errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score. To progress, the student should expand their vocabulary range and practice the correct forms and collocations of academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic, repetitive patterns. Attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, leading to run-on sentences and grammatical errors. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'i am agree', 'if many of money spend', and 'childrens more educated'. Punctuation is also poorly managed, with the entire response lacking proper sentence boundaries. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of accurate complex structures and improve basic grammatical control.
