Student answer (Band 5.0)

In Pakistan the goverment offers funded scholarships to the eligble students only.

Scholarship program is based on the higher merit.Goverment takes taxes from public and universitiies as well.I agree with the opinion that goverment should made education free for every one in the universities.

There are two types of universities in my country.Goverment and private universities.Goverment provide the scholarships to only few affiliated universities.

The fee of goverment university is very cheap, but the merit is very high.Only few students can take part.Forexample Harward University Lahore only select student with good mdcat scores.MBBS degree cost is zero for high merit holders.

In contrast to private universities are not bound to the goverment. They charge heavy fee including the tax.Merit is average.Forexample Foundation university islamabad cost for MBBS Degree is nine lacs rupees fee excluding tax.And futher two lac rupees for the other circular activities including tax.

Goverment cut tax from public and used it scholarship purpose in the goverment universities. It is the goverment duty to bound the private university as well.If goverment run the universities ,economy will drop and people will lose interest in the education system.

In my conclusion i would like to say forexample coin has the two sides.Wether i agree or disagree my answer will have two side .If i agree with this opinion , the result is a lack of interest and cheap fee , economy drop.If i dont agree with this opinion , the result is high competition , expensive and economy rise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a relevant position—“I agree” that university education should be free—and compare government and private universities in Pakistan. The fee examples, including the stated cost of an MBBS degree at Foundation University, help illustrate unequal access. However, the response only partially develops the question of whether the government should pay the costs for anyone who wants to attend. The claim that universal funding could reduce interest or harm the economy is unclear and not explained, and the conclusion presents both agreement and disagreement rather than resolving your position. The response is also four words below the required minimum. Develop a consistent argument, explain who should qualify for funding, and support each main reason with a clear explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: you introduce the issue, contrast government and private universities, and provide a concluding paragraph. The comparison gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression is not clear throughout. The paragraph beginning “Government cut tax” shifts from taxation to private universities and then to economic effects without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “In contrast” help, but some are awkwardly used, and the conclusion repeats the two-sided coin idea instead of clearly summarising your argument. Use one paragraph for each main reason, connect examples directly to the point they support, and use referencing and transitions more precisely to make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “funded scholarships,” “merit,” “affiliated universities,” and “competition,” and the fee examples make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “government,” “university,” and “fee.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “eligble,” “futher,” and “circular activities,” which may make parts of the message difficult to interpret. Some combinations are unnatural, including “takes taxes” and “bound to the government.” Build a wider set of accurate terms for public funding and access, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the financial and educational consequences of your position.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences are simple, and the response attempts a few longer structures, such as “If government run the universities, economy will drop.” However, these attempts often contain errors, and the range of sentence patterns remains limited. Examples include “government should made education free,” “Government provide the scholarships,” and “If government run,” where verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “the government duty” and “In my conclusion i would like to say forexample coin…” are difficult to read as written. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, and article use. Then combine ideas into controlled complex sentences, checking punctuation and capitalisation so the reader can follow your reasoning.
