Student answer (Band 6.0)
Education play a crucial role to be successful in a person's life. A group of individual argue that cost associated with running university should be paid by government in order to make it free for everyone. I partially agree with the given statemant, and I believe that such money can also be used for economical growth.
To start with, not only does students require necessary skills to be successful in their individual fields, but also requires a certification or a degree from qualified educational institution. Although students have the best skills and high grades which fulfill all the criteria of the university, the main reason they could not able to get the admission is the high fees. Thus, if government provide funding to such institution to make the education free for every student, it willl help them to acheive thier dreams and professional success in their lives. For example, in India government funded Gujarat technological univeristy offers free education to every students who ultimately contributes to the economy.
On the other hand, instead of spending such large amount of money on the university, these government funding can be used for more nation related issues like running jails, strengthen defence sector, improving infrastructure and healthcare and so on. Providing such great services is the moral duty of the government, as the money they have comes from the taxes they have collected from the individuals. To give an example, Canadian people are paying high taxes but in return they are receiving free health care, high quality roads and so on.
To conclude, covering cost of running university can help students to purse their dream career and achieve professional success in their lives. However, that funding is very crucial towards national economy and infrastructure.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partially agree that government funding can make university accessible, while also arguing that public money has other important uses. Both sides are relevant, and the examples of Gujarat Technological University and Canadian public services help illustrate your points. This fits the task because you address the central question and give reasons. However, the balance is not fully developed: the first body paragraph explains the benefits to students, but the second mainly lists other spending priorities without showing why these should take precedence over university funding. The conclusion also repeats the two positions rather than clarifying how you would balance them. Explain the extent of your agreement more precisely and develop the comparison between these competing uses of public funds.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signalled by “To start with” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress in a logical order, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. This shows the coherent organisation expected at this level and some effective paragraphing. To move further, make the links between claims more explicit and less formulaic. For instance, the shift from university funding to jails, defence, infrastructure and healthcare is abrupt; explain how these priorities relate to your partial agreement. Some references are also unclear, as in “these government funding,” where the reader must infer what “these” refers to. Use clearer referencing and connect each example directly to the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “professional success,” “funding,” “infrastructure,” and “moral duty,” which allows you to discuss education and public spending. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “contributes to the economy.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the wording less natural: “economical growth” is not the usual expression, and “nation related issues” is unclear. Errors such as “statemant,” “acheive,” and “thier” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use familiar academic collocations precisely before reaching for more elaborate wording, and proofread spelling. A more controlled choice of terms would make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including the inversion in “not only does students require…” and the concessive clause beginning “Although students have…”. These attempts show some range, and the main ideas remain understandable. However, there are several errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “Education play” should have a singular verb, and “students … requires” does not maintain agreement. The phrase “they could not able to get” also needs a corrected verb pattern, such as “they may not be able to get.” Review subject–verb agreement and modal constructions, and check articles and plurals. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the complex sentences you are already attempting.
