Student answer (Band 6.5)
A group society believe that the overall expense to run the educational institutions like universities shall be covered solely by the respective governing authority such that education can be received by whoever wishes to study further without having to worry about paying hefty fees. I somewhat agree to this statement and at the same time, I pose some important points which shall be considered with equal importance.
Often times, people struggle to get proper education. Such inaccessibility to higher education comes specifically from financial burdons in most of the cases. This does not only affect one individual who could not get their way to a university but it affects the entire nation collectively. I believe, free education should be offered to a certain group of economic class that does not qualify or perhaps lie far below the basic income threshold of the country. Subsidised learning is widely offered to many students across the world.
Moreover, it is very much needed in every society so that every individual can experience the full potential of the human mind and eventually use their skills serving their respective field. Additionally, it has been seen that countries with higher litercy rates often suggest and implement to have, either subsidized or completely government funded education. In contrast, these services come with its complexities. Higher tax rates, dull or moderate quality of education, maintaining physical structure and lack of raise in income of teachers. In order to deal these issues, I also consider charging a minor fee from students is advisable.
Overall, it is indeed a great idea to completely eliminate the fees for student but it pose several issues that can be addressed solely by having a minor fee associated with such services. This would eventually sustain such idea in the long run for the betterment of the society and for the nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you partly support government-funded university education, while arguing that a small student contribution may be needed. You address both access and the practical costs of funding, with relevant points about financial barriers, national benefits, taxation, teaching quality and teachers’ incomes. This gives the response a sound basis and covers the question. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that higher literacy rates lead countries to fund education needs a specific example or clearer reasoning, and the possible effects of higher taxes and reduced quality are listed without showing how likely or significant they are. Develop these points and explain more precisely who should receive free or subsidised education to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your qualified position, the body paragraphs present reasons and limitations, and the conclusion restates your view. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In contrast,” and “Overall” help signal the direction of the argument. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. In the second paragraph, the shift from individual barriers to effects on the nation would benefit from an explicit explanation. The list of drawbacks in the third paragraph also feels abrupt, and “these services” has an unclear reference. Use transitions that show the relationship between each point, and connect examples and explanations more closely within paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “financial burdens,” “income threshold,” “subsidised learning,” and “government funded education.” These choices help communicate the main argument, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “A group society,” “get their way to a university,” and “experience the full potential of the human mind.” There are also spelling errors, including “burdons” and “litercy,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for funding arrangements and their consequences would also help you express your ideas with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “so that,” “who,” and “that,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “This does not only affect one individual … but it affects the entire nation collectively.” However, some grammatical errors remain. For example, “it pose several issues” needs subject–verb agreement, and “it is very much needed … so that every individual can experience” has an unclear subject. In “In order to deal these issues,” the verb pattern is incomplete; it requires “deal with.” Review agreement, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries, and make sure each pronoun clearly refers to the intended noun.
