Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few Individuals believe that the governing body should bear the cost of all the running universities so that everyone has an equal chance for studying. I somewhat agree with the above statement.

Living in the 21st century where knowledge is power, no child should be left behind in getting the education in terms of their financial ability. We have a data from the last century that more than 1 million students were not able to go to the universities because their families were not able them to send to school because of the high fees structure instead those students had to either start working to support their families.

Proving education to everyone will also make countries litterracy level graph go upwards and will also be recoginsed by the world. for examples : America has almost 90% people going to universities whereas in India only 30% are able to go to universities, this creates a huge difference in the number of enterpreneurs in America and India. Students living in amercia get knowledge and try to implement them in new bussiness ideas.

On the other hand if all the universities are charging no money from the students it becames a financial burden on the existing government and at-last the shift cost onto taxpayers paying more taxes.

To summarise to some extent it is better shift to charge no money to attend universities because it makes more people literate and give them a upper hand to sit for good paying jobs but we should also keep in mind that if this a happening the individuals have to pay more tax to cover all the expenses . According to me we should shift to low cost higher education where people pay less where even govt does not have a financial burden as well as most people are able to attend the university for their higher education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partly agree with publicly funded university education, while concluding that low-cost study is a better compromise. You address both access and the financial burden on government and taxpayers, and the comparison between university participation in America and India is relevant support. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the claim about students being unable to attend because of family finances needs clearer development, and the link between university access and entrepreneurship is broad. To strengthen the response further, explain how your proposed low-cost model would share costs and preserve access, and support comparisons with precise, relevant reasoning rather than general claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, arguments for wider access, a counterargument about public costs, and a concluding compromise. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “To summarise” help readers follow the main direction. The progression is generally coherent, though some links between ideas are abrupt. For example, the discussion moves from literacy to international recognition and then to entrepreneurship without clearly showing how each point connects. The final paragraph also repeats earlier arguments rather than bringing them together efficiently. Use clearer topic sentences and develop one main point at a time; make references such as “this” explicit so the reader can readily identify the idea being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “financial burden,” “taxpayers,” “higher education,” and “good paying jobs,” which helps communicate the central issues. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general words and noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors. Examples include “litterracy,” “recoginsed,” “enterpreneurs,” and “bussiness,” as well as the unnatural phrase “the number of enterpreneurs.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the main meaning is usually recoverable. Build a more accurate set of education and public-finance expressions, and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise phrases such as “university enrolment” and “public funding” over broad or awkward wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea about what would happen if universities charged no fees. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “because their families were not able them to send to school” is missing grammatical elements, while “it becames a financial burden” has an incorrect verb form. The opening phrase “the cost of all the running universities” is also structurally unclear. Practise building accurate clauses before adding complexity, especially with “because,” “if,” and relative clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
