Student answer (Band 5.5)

Education is a vital part of life. Some people believe that the government needs to provide funding for universities because this would increase opportunities for everyone to access higher education. I agree with this opinion and will provide supporting statement in paragraphs.

Firstly, students from any background able to fulfill there dreams. Gaining education from higher school is the dream of every child. However, some families unable to afford schooling due to increasing demand of the tuition fee. For example,The student who is highly capable and multitalented could not access to have furthur studies because of low income. So, This idea would be beneficial for those families who have financial difficulties.

Secondly, This will reduces the biasness among the youngsters. Nowadays some of the students got discriminated due to family backgrounds. Children with higher status believe they can achieve goals easily because of enough money they have and this builds racist and bullier behaviour among the young generation. So, this thought will provide every children equal and appropriate opportunities.

Thirdly, It will increases the chance to gain right education because Many people unable to choose right course because of less awareness. subsequently, It will helps to gain more awareness to choose right path and right education

As a result, I would strongly agree with the statement as it will be providng equal and right opportunties to everyone eventhough if person has financial crisis. Government should provide enough funding to run the universities to make everychildren gain education and success which they deserves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that public funding should make university education accessible, and you give relevant reasons concerning financial barriers, equal opportunity and course choice. The first point is supported with an example of a capable student unable to continue studying because of low income. However, the response addresses the issue only partly because several claims are asserted rather than explained. The link between university funding and reducing discrimination or bullying, for instance, is not made clear, and the point about awareness and choosing a course is unfinished. Develop each reason by explaining how free university places would produce the stated benefit, and add a specific example or consequence to support the less-developed points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, three body paragraphs signposted with “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Thirdly,” and a concluding statement that restates your position. This makes the overall arrangement easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “So” introducing conclusions, and some links between claims are unclear. For example, the move from university funding to “racist and bullier behaviour” is abrupt, while the third body paragraph ends without fully connecting its point to the argument. Use linking phrases that show the precise relationship between ideas, and ensure each paragraph develops one complete reason before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary such as “government,” “funding,” “higher education,” “financial difficulties” and “opportunities,” so the main argument is understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or forms make parts less natural, including “biasness,” “bullier behaviour,” “right education” and “multitalented.” Spelling and spacing errors such as “furthur,” “providng” and “eventhough” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than repeating broad terms such as “right” and “opportunities.” For example, describe “equal access to university” and “appropriate course choices,” and check spelling and word forms carefully during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional idea in “because this would increase opportunities” and a relative clause in “the student who is highly capable.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include missing subjects or auxiliaries in “students from any background able to fulfill,” incorrect agreement in “This will reduces” and “It will increases,” and the faulty construction “It will helps.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and punctuation, as in “every children” and the comma spacing after “For example.” Practise complete sentence patterns and check subject–verb agreement, especially after modal verbs such as “will.”
