Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people says that government should pay the costs of running universities because some people not afford fees of universities. In this essay will be discuss about this.
Firstly, university is very important for young people. They should get the education. Good education make the people intelligent and experienced. I agree this point government should pay the cost or university because when they pay the cost the fees of this university will be low. The people of low community will be able to attend the study of university. For example in government college the fees of student have low cost. Middle class family also affordable. Poor children who have not their parents they are not able to study in expensive university so government should help them . Free education would be helpful for them.
Secondly, in free education some student not interest in study. They think that it is free so they chill and take it lightly. The result of this is very bad. It is not good for their future. They will not become a successful in young age. When university cost the highest price the student will be study hard and want to become good business man. They want to enjoy life with good future.
Finally, Government should free for those student who have not facilities for fees, or not having parents or belong to poor family.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a relevant position: you support government funding, especially for students from poor families, and you also recognise a possible drawback when education is free. However, the response only partially develops the question of whether university should be free for anyone who wants it. The point that some students may take free study lightly is asserted rather than explained or supported, and the final paragraph narrows your position to students without fees, parents, or from poor families. The example of a government college is relevant but too general to show how funding would work. The response is 220 words, 30 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to explain and support your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a concluding “Finally” paragraph. This helps the reader identify the main points. However, progression is limited: the conclusion introduces a narrower policy position rather than clearly summarising the argument, and the link between free education and students becoming less motivated is not fully explained. Some connections are repetitive or unclear, such as “I agree this point” and “The result of this is very bad.” Develop each paragraph around one clear claim, explain how it supports your position, and use more precise links between cause and consequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “government,” “university,” “fees,” “education,” and “poor family.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward, for example “low community,” “attend the study of university,” and “they chill.” Repetition of “cost,” “student,” and “good” also restricts precision. Aim to use more accurate phrases for access and affordability, and choose vocabulary that expresses your intended meaning directly. For instance, describe students as “from low-income backgrounds” and say they can “afford to attend university.” Check word forms and spelling as well, including “business man,” which is normally written as “businessman.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate your main points using mostly short, simple sentences, and you attempt some longer structures, such as “Poor children who have not their parents they are not able to study…” These attempts are often faulty, while frequent errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand the message. Examples include “Many people says,” “Good education make,” and “In this essay will be discuss.” There are also incomplete or awkwardly joined clauses, as in “Poor children who have not their parents they are not able to study.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with clear punctuation and correct verb forms.
