Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments are often repetitive and lack clear, logical progression. For instance, the explanation of why similar-ability classes might be boring is vague. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs. To improve, you should aim to provide more specific, well-reasoned examples and ensure that your position is clearly articulated and consistently supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In opposite other think' and 'But if the students' are used in ways that disrupt the flow of ideas. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect sentences and paragraphs effectively. The progression of ideas is sometimes unclear, particularly within the second paragraph, where the transition between academic ability and dance examples feels abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of your cohesive devices will significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'catch up significant things' and 'sort of subject'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'convenient' instead of 'advantageous' or 'effective'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of a wider range of vocabulary and the presence of errors in word formation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on learning collocations and using more academic, precise terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other think'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it show'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, which can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions in an academic context.
