Student answer (Band 6.5)

some Individuals believe that students learn better when sharing the class with other students who posses the similar academic abilities while others argue that outcomes are better when they are placed in a class of students with a diverse range of academic abilities.

this essay will discuss both the views and provide my own opinion.

In the former view, the children are believed to learn better when they join the other students of similar educational interests. The most prominent reason is that they share similar interest which turns out to be much more learning because of different opinions on the same subjects. They all can ask questions to each other and at the same time, they can help each other to solve problems and learn difficult topics. In other words, everyone stays on the same boat that leads them towards success. Thus, probability of brighter results is far more higher.

For example, children doing the same group project are more successful at completing rather than each doing different project.

On the other hand, It is stated that children learn better when they share the class with children possessing different academic abilities. It is believed that learning in presence of different minds is highly rewarding. It is because there are always more than one idea or an academic proficiency that becomes the reason of success to a bigger project or a task. Also, It is a very good idea of learning different academics while sharing the class of students with different academic abilities.

In my own opinion, The results must be rewarding when children learn in the environment where there are children of similar interest or academic abilities.

To conclude, Both the ideas have their own benefits. With the former idea, children can help each other to learn and solve difficult problems while the later view helps them to learn new skills and abilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument for similar ability groups relies on repetitive phrasing like 'share similar interest' and 'help each other,' without exploring the pedagogical benefits in depth. The example provided regarding group projects is vague and lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more concrete reasoning or real-world examples. Your position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more substance to fully satisfy the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In the former view,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To conclude,' which help the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'prominent,' 'proficiency,' and 'rewarding.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'far more higher' (a double comparative) and 'learning different academics' (which is not a standard collocation). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing, such as the frequent use of 'children' and 'academic abilities.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'posses' (spelling), 'the probability of brighter results is far more higher' (redundant comparative), and inconsistent capitalization (e.g., 'It is stated,' 'The results'). Punctuation is also inconsistent throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement, spelling, and consistent sentence structure to improve your accuracy.
