Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 179 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you have attempted to address both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The conclusion is also incomplete and does not clearly state your opinion as requested by the prompt. To improve, you must expand on your points with detailed explanations and ensure you provide a clear, well-supported opinion in a full conclusion. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'for example' which does not effectively link to the previous paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') to connect your ideas more smoothly and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'segement', 'childern', 'oppourtunity', 'diffrent', 'numerout') and word choice issues that occasionally impede clarity. You rely on simple phrasing, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to education and social development. Proofreading is essential to catch simple spelling mistakes that detract from your overall performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'A group of people believed'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary complexity to demonstrate a high level of control. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read at times. Focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones, and pay close attention to verb tenses and pluralization.
