Student answer (Band 6.0)

It often argues that children acquire better understanding when they share class with learners of same educational level while others believe that they achieve more knowledge when they are with other children studying different kinds of intellectual capacity. I believe that learners ought to be placed in the same group of academics is a better approach. In this essay, I will discuss both views and explain my viewpoint.

In my view, I believe students should share same class with other learners with similar academic studies because it enables them to share ideas within themselves. This would assist them to have a deep understanding and different knowledge of what is being taught. Beyond sharing ideas, it also enhances them to render assistance to each other because they are more conversant with the topic or study.

Despite studying together, there are strong argument that students ought to study with other children of different kind of educational level because it helps them achieve a wealth of diverse knowledge from other field.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While you have identified both views and stated a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The essay ends abruptly in the final paragraph, leaving the conclusion incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay is fully developed to meet the length requirement. Because the response is incomplete and fails to address the task fully due to the word count, it falls into the lower band range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay uses basic paragraphing, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In my view', 'Beyond sharing ideas', and 'Despite', but the overall structure is fragmented. The abrupt ending in the final paragraph disrupts the logical flow of the argument. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you provide a complete, well-structured conclusion that summarizes your main points effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally functional but repetitive and lacks the precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'share class' and 'same educational level' are used repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'share class with learners of same educational level' and 'achieve a wealth of diverse knowledge from other field'. To improve, try to vary your vocabulary by using synonyms and more sophisticated academic collocations. Focus on using precise terminology related to education and pedagogy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'It often argues' (passive voice error), 'share same class' (missing article), and 'there are strong argument' (subject-verb agreement error). These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement, article usage, and the correct application of passive voice. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve your score.
