Student answer (Band 5.5)
A section of society believes that children will learn better when they are studying with similar academic abilities students, while others argued that they learn with children with diverse range. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
To commence with, there are multifarious reasons why most of the people believed that children should learn in school with diverse students. The first and foremost reason is that they will get enhanced amount of point of views which is beneficial for the students who wants to uplift their knowledge. Therefore, learning in diverse will plays a crucial role in student's life. For instance, my cousin son is studying in 10th class, once in a week his teacher give all students one topic and children have to provide their suggestions and their point of view related to the same topic. Not only this helps them to gain knowledge but also learn different ways to come up with the solution. Apart from this,
On the other hand, those who argued that children should learn with same level of academic abilities because they will get equally treated as other children which helps them to gain confidence. Thus, this plays an important role in children lives. For example, a survey was conducted by the 'The Times of India' stated that 80% of students with similar level of knowledge gets great marks in their academics.
In conclusion, it is evident that studying with similar level of students gets passed marks in their final exams, while I firmly believed that diverse level of students will grow their knowledge in early times as compared to same level students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The first body paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, leaving the argument incomplete. The second body paragraph relies on a single, somewhat weak example regarding 'The Times of India' to support the claim about academic performance. While the position is clear, the arguments lack depth and the conclusion is somewhat repetitive rather than synthesizing the points effectively. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a fully developed argument with a clear link to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Apart from this', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the logical flow is disrupted by the incomplete sentence at the end of the first body paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is unbalanced, and the progression of ideas feels mechanical. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the vague mention of 'diverse' without a noun. Improving the use of linking words to create smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'enhanced amount of point of views' and 'diverse level of students'. The student relies on repetitive phrasing like 'similar academic abilities' and 'same level'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Expanding the vocabulary to include more academic collocations would significantly improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'children will learn better when they are studying with similar academic abilities students' (incorrect word order), 'diverse will plays' (subject-verb agreement), and 'my cousin son' (missing possessive). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often clunky. The frequency of these errors occasionally causes the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. A focus on subject-verb agreement and correct word forms is necessary.
