Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely believe that children can find better way of learning with students who have similar academic skills. On the contrary, some are opine that children can acquire better knowledge when they find different background of skills and knowledge in their peers. From my perspective, learning with students representing a diverse range of academic skills is a beneficial to the new generation in several ways. I will discuss both perspectives and my opinion in the forthcoming paragraphs.

Considering the first point of view , some times student can find discomfort during conversation when they learning with classmates who have different background of interest in studies. To elaborate this, having dissimilar interest of studies may create a lack of interest in the conversation. For example , If student with strong sports skill is talking about its field , others will find less involvement in communication as they don't have knowledge and interest in that particular field meanwhile a student with sport skills would feel isolated in the group. As a result , they can feel sepreted from others.

However, learning with children who represent different skills is the best way to improve interpersonal skills of younger ones. In academic institution , there are several students with a better knowledge in different fields such as a sports, art, music, dance, drama and many more like these. having diverse range of abilities can give opportunities to others acquire different skills and knowledge and they can also learn these from their peers. Therefore, different skills can enables students to develop their overall personality and also helpful for their better future.

To conclude , according to my point of view students can acquire better knowledge and skills with having interest of different background of studies in their peers. While

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'similar academic abilities' focuses on social discomfort rather than academic outcomes, which is a slight misinterpretation of the prompt's focus on learning efficiency. Furthermore, the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of the position. While the main points are relevant, they lack the depth and extension required for a higher band score. The response is also slightly under the expected depth for a full discussion of both views.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To elaborate this', 'For example', and 'However', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'To conclude , according to my point of view'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the coherence of the final paragraph. While the reader can follow the general flow of ideas, the lack of a completed conclusion and some awkward transitions between sentences limit the effectiveness of the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'widely believe' instead of 'widely believed', 'some are opine' instead of 'some opine', and 'a beneficial' instead of 'beneficial'. The student relies on repetitive structures and basic vocabulary. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over collocations and the frequent errors in word forms (e.g., 'sepreted' for 'separated') indicate a limited range that occasionally hinders the natural flow of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('different skills can enables'), missing articles ('in academic institution'), and incorrect verb forms ('when they learning'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with frequent spacing errors before commas. While the student attempts complex sentences, these are often marred by errors that, while not always impeding communication, are frequent enough to be distracting. The grammatical control is inconsistent, and the errors are systematic rather than occasional slips.
