Student answer (Band 6.5)

Debate centers on whether equal level of IQ students should be together in a class or plethora of ranges should be presented in one classroom. The main aim of this composition is to advocate both the sides along with examples to justify my support latter.

Beginning with, students of same educational understanding develop better in a classroom, as they don't have to be under the pressure of being in competition among the fellow classmates. Thus it enhances their academic relationship and provides them with the stress free environment and better efficiency to achieve outstanding performance. To be precise, students having same level of IQ makes them comfortable among them and pave the road for them to navigate with each others supports for academic qualifications. Subsequently, learners tend to be more enthusiastic about studies and look out for their classmates as it reduces the fierce competition and promotes mental well being of students.

Moving to the alternative viewpoint, a classroom consisting of students who excel in separate fields and show exceptional skills in variety of the things makes a outstanding impression. To elaborate more , a classroom with a genius, a topper of science , pupil of arts, and Artificial intelligence expert is precisely a unique combination . A session among such students tend to be more interactive as they can educate each other about their skill thus making them exceptional in every subject and skill. Moreover, this period really need jack of all trades owing to the neck to neck competition going around to reach pinnacle of success.

In conclusion, even though students at equal foothill in a class mitigate the mental stress and supports harmony , I believe a session with students of diverse abilities not only provides versatility but as well they become far more interested in learning new things which will benefit their future and makes them skill oriented.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat uneven. For instance, the argument for grouping students by ability is supported by the concept of reduced pressure, but the explanation of the diverse classroom could be more specific regarding how academic outcomes are actually improved, rather than just listing types of students. The position is consistent throughout, and the essay maintains a formal tone appropriate for the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'Beginning with', 'Moving to the alternative viewpoint', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the opening sentence. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'mitigate', 'versatility', and 'pinnacle'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'equal foothill', 'plethora of ranges', and 'make a outstanding impression'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise usage of academic vocabulary. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but lacks the flexibility and naturalness required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a outstanding impression', 'the neck to neck competition') and subject-verb agreement ('a session among such students tend to be'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the errors do not prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to limit the score. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the quality of the writing.
