Student answer (Band 6.0)
Education is the cornerstone of our society. Many folks think that the child should be put in grade of students with the same logical capabilities, however other people state that a kid should be in class where one can compete with people with extended abilities. So, I have discussed both the sides in trailing paragraphs and my opinion is in concluding part.
On one side , if the learner took part in any competition of their same age then there is chances of their overall development because they knew that all of them have similar academic skills. It also fosters their hunger to learn more and try to perform better than other peers. For Example, in Education institutes all the classmates are of similar age in a class they all play and learn together and it is an easy task for educators as well to explain any topic with basics to them.
On the other side, if the class consists of mates with wide range of learning abilities then it will be challenging for students to score more in exams than others and this will break them morally. In addition, their confidence will also suffer because they know that how hard they study the other classmate with higher abilities will always score more than them. This might affects badly on child's nature and they drop their studies in near future. In instances, UPSC coaching centers have people of all age to compete and some of the have exceptional studying abilities and some are average. That's the main reason that most of the UPSC students don't even appear for the exams because they thinks that they don't have sufficient knowledge to compete with other.
In conclusion, my opinion is that child should be sit in class with similar academic abilities for their mental development as well boost of confidence in them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'similar academic abilities' is supported by the idea of ease of instruction, but the counter-argument regarding 'diverse abilities' is slightly confusing, as it focuses on the negative psychological impact of competition rather than the potential benefits of peer learning. The example of UPSC coaching centers is somewhat tangential, as it focuses on adult competitive exams rather than the classroom environment for children. To improve, ensure that examples directly relate to the prompt and provide more depth to the reasoning for both viewpoints.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one side', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In instances' to introduce an example. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second body paragraph where the link between the general argument and the specific UPSC example is not fully articulated. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the flow could be smoother with more varied linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some informal choices, such as 'Many folks' and 'mates', which are not appropriate for an academic essay. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'break them morally' or 'boost of confidence'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic synonyms and improving collocation accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('child should be sit', 'some of the have'), article misuse ('in grade of students'), and tense inconsistencies ('they thinks'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in comma usage. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the score.
