Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are divided opinions regarding the children's learning process in this contemporary era. Some people think that it would be better if learner placed with the equal academic abilities, however few individual deem that they should perform and learn better when they are with different abilities of pupils. Both have their own pros and cons. This essay will not only discuss the both view points, but also articulate the opinion in the forthcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand, there are various reasons that children do better performance when they are with equal level of children. To commence with, learner can get more knowledge as well as the environment is full of competition. To elaborate it, if pupils find any type of difficulties to solve any example or question that time they have other friends that can help her. Moreover, if every children have more skills and abilities to get high score in the final exam, so it would be more effective for children to work hard and make their future bright. For example, they can get process in every field such as sports, art, music, and academic level.

On the other hand, there have few masses they think that it would be better option if children studying with different range of abilities. To embark on, when the time of understanding the low ability students take more time as compared to the advanced learner. To put it more simple, there are few situation in which mentor have to explain more in details not only this but also they need to explain two or three times each topics. From my perspective, it is waste of time because they have high ability student who can learn more and they can get more knowledge at the same time.

To recapitulate, there is no denying that learner should learn and studying with each categories of students, whereas it would be more beneficial for fast learner if they classes with same abilities of student.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for grouping by ability is repetitive, focusing on 'competition' and 'helping friends' without deep exploration. The conclusion is slightly confusing as it contradicts the previous paragraph by suggesting that mixed-ability classes are beneficial, yet the final clause seems to support same-ability grouping. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph fully explores the implications of the chosen viewpoint with more specific, logical examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, some of these are used mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'To embark on' to introduce a paragraph. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'her' when referring to a generic 'learner'. The transition between ideas is functional but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'learner placed with the equal academic abilities' instead of 'learners placed with peers of similar academic ability', and 'few masses' instead of 'some people'. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but the lack of control over collocation and the repetition of basic terms like 'children' and 'abilities' limit the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('if every children have', 'there have few masses'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('if they classes with same abilities'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to basic grammar rules and sentence structure is needed.
