Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, educatin plays a vital role to ensure to access significant knwledge, personal development and professtional success. Some people are of the opinion that schools should teach children all together from different academic abilities but some argue that students should learn with as same as their level. I agree with the later statement.

Firstly, students from different acedemic levels can ensure the chance to learn from each others during the class activities such as team work, presentations and project work. To explain, children with more knowledge can easily answers the questions of weak students whenever they will ask and with time the academic differnce betwee them, will start decreasing. Secondly, students who have high academic knowledge will motivate weak students to work on their selves which has been seen in some studies also.

But, in some cases, it woul dbe better if students sould be tought all together from the same level since there are some practical resons. First of all, it will be easy for teachers to measure the level of the whole class and they will teach accordinglt. Resultanly, students can learn on their own pace and slowley student will build confidence in studies. In addition to this, weak students sometimes feel unconfident when they learn with high ability students and as a result, they never ask the doubts and try to sit al the back banches. With time they get more weaker and lose the hope to do well in studies. So, if they have students form the same level, may that would give them some confident to work on their studies.

In conclusion, teaching students from all the academic levels can be ideal from school's point of view but to give extra care to weak students, can be a significant help to them to compete the students form the diverse range of academic ability.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the benefits of mixed-ability classes are mentioned, the explanation of the opposing view (homogeneous classes) is more detailed. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it seems to contradict the stated position in the introduction by suggesting that mixed-ability classes might be 'ideal' after previously arguing for homogeneous ones. To improve, ensure that your position is consistently supported throughout the essay and that your conclusion clearly reflects the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In addition to this', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the link between the two views becomes muddled. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the lack of clarity in the final summary affects the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'educatin', 'knwledge', 'professtional', 'acedemic', 'differnce', 'tought', 'resons', 'accordinglt', 'Resultanly', 'slowley'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'academic abilities' and 'diverse range', the range is limited, and the errors in basic spelling and word choice prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('students sould be tought', 'they get more weaker'), incorrect word forms ('compete the students'), and punctuation errors. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentence structures are constructed correctly.
