Student answer (Band 6.0)
Education is the weapon with which one can change the world. Presently, some masses assert that combining kids of same academic qualities increase their learning capabilities to a greater extent. Whereas, other folks strongly support the notion that diversity in educational abilities of students help them to learn and develop in a better way. Here, i would like to explain both views with my own perception in the end.
To commence with the latter view, diversity in the academic capabilities create better learning environment in every field of education. To explain it, in educational centres, some kids are good in academics while other are good in sports and extra curricular activities. learners with higher intelligence quotient level can help student who are not good in studies, whereas, people with good creative and sport abilities help other students in attaining good physical and mental condition. This further leads the students to develop a quality of helping and supporting others resulting in the creation of noble characters in the society. Moreover, it leads to the better growth of community as children with good academic abilities help those with less grades which leads to the growth of better world where everyone is well literate.
To support the former view, by combining the kids with similar academic abilities help to make institution proud as these students possess excellent learning and educational abilities which give teachers an ease in teaching and achieving extraordinary educational records. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear opinion. However, the essay is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence in the conclusion. This lack of a full conclusion affects the overall development of the response. While the ideas regarding diversity and ability-based grouping are relevant, the supporting arguments are somewhat repetitive and could be more deeply explored with more specific examples. The position is clear, but the abrupt ending prevents the essay from fully meeting the requirements of a well-developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover' to link ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the logical flow and structure of the essay. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of the transitions and the unfinished conclusion limit the effectiveness of the organization. Referencing is mostly clear, but the lack of a finished concluding paragraph significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. Phrases like 'some masses' and 'other folks' are slightly informal or unnatural in this context. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'intelligence quotient' and 'extra curricular activities', but the range is somewhat limited. Some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'educational centres' instead of 'schools' or 'institutions'. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('diversity in the academic capabilities create', 'combining the kids... help to make'), and missing articles ('in educational centres', 'in sports'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the incomplete final sentence is a major issue. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
