Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument for homogeneous classes is vague, focusing on 'communication skills' without explaining how academic similarity specifically facilitates learning. The second body paragraph attempts to list various talents but does not clearly link how a 'diverse' classroom environment practically improves learning outcomes beyond a general statement. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, logical explanations for why these environments impact student performance, rather than simply listing skills.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To illustrate'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'To conclusion' instead of 'In conclusion'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, the phrase 'I agree with later statement' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. The progression of ideas is present but could be smoother with more varied linking words and better control over sentence-to-sentence transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There is frequent repetition of basic words like 'skills', 'learn', and 'help'. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'diversre their ideas' or 'get strong one ability'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and occasional misuse of collocations (e.g., 'get strong one ability') limits the score. To improve, focus on using synonyms and more sophisticated academic vocabulary related to education and pedagogy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'Several individual think' (subject-verb agreement), 'if they will sit' (incorrect conditional tense), and 'it not help them' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. The frequency of these errors is noticeable and occasionally makes the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning. Increasing the variety of sentence structures and focusing on basic subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
