Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, it is often argued by some individuals that students acquire more knowledge when they share the same class with other learners with similar academic's abilities while others believe that they learn better when they in the same room with students of different educational abilities. In my opinion, children with same academic's abilities achieve more in their choice field than to be placed in same classroom with other students with different studies. This essay would discuss both views and highlight my perspectives.
To commence with, when students with similar educational goals learn together in the same room, it enables them to study in a less competitive environment. This is because, they are confident and makes them not to feel inferior. It helps them to be more relax in class which enables them to comprehend what they are being taught.
Despite the benefit of sharing same classroom with their contemporaries, there are strong arguments for allowing learners of different academic's abilities to be placed together. One the reason why some schools practice this approach is because they want students to have an insight on other subjects. Moreover, children who learn together with other learners with different educational motives tend to have knowledge and understanding of diverse field which enhances a better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views and provides an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The conclusion is incomplete, leaving the task unfinished. Because the response is under-length and lacks a full conclusion, it does not fully address all parts of the task. To improve, you must ensure you reach the word count by expanding on your examples and providing a more comprehensive analysis of the benefits and drawbacks of each educational approach.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'To commence with', 'Moreover'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending of the text disrupts the overall flow and coherence of the argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next, maintaining a clear logical thread throughout the entire piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word forms, such as 'academic's abilities' (should be 'academic abilities') and 'choice field' (should be 'chosen field'). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms that are repeated throughout the essay. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing by using synonyms and more sophisticated academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'when they in the same room' (missing verb 'are') and 'makes them not to feel inferior' (incorrect infinitive structure). Punctuation is generally functional, but the grammatical control is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and verb forms. Proofreading for basic sentence construction errors will help you achieve a higher level of accuracy.
