Student answer (Band 6.5)
A clash of believers regarding the children education that they learn well with similar academic performance and the others believing they learn well with different individuals with different academic achievements , is a rather older one . i believe children learn well with diverse range of academic abilities in the same class .
Those who believe children learn better when they are placed in classes with children of similar academic abilities argue that they can learn on their pace without minding others (like intelligent persons learn fast). Also ,they tend to achieve higher with talking with their peers and teachers as they are "not alone" , so they feel comforted to open up about their doubts . Additionally , the whole group can be taught with the same approach and move forward faster as the study plan will be "tailored" according to them .
The others who believe that all or diverse academic performers can learn better in the same class says that they can learn to approach a topic from different perspectives as all the students learning methods are different and are taught a topic in different ways . Moreover , absence of performance based class abolish the inferiority complex of the children as all the students are the same in the teacher's eyes . Furthermore , a student can learn to accept different opinions and approaches to topics from interacting with the classmates . I personally do not second this opinion.
In my opinion , a class with diverse range of academic abilities is best because i was also an average student until my intelligent classmate make me understood topics which were so tough for me and i started getting better at studies and she also appreciated my way of learning things which helped her too in return and with interactions like this in the whole class , our whole class's grades improved drastically with new and appreciated friendships .
In conclusion , the end goal is to understand the topics and comprehend them fully , wholistic development ( forming friends , talking to teachers , raising their doubts , and so on ) is the main focus . While some may thrive in specialised classes according to their level and some in diverse academic performers , i believe we need to look at the larger level which falls in line with the idea of different academic performers in the same class .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and supported by personal experience, which adds depth to the argument. However, the development of the 'similar ability' side is slightly more superficial compared to the 'diverse ability' side. To reach a higher band, ensure that the arguments for both perspectives are balanced in terms of depth and analytical detail. The conclusion effectively synthesizes the main points, reinforcing the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are a bit clunky, which occasionally impacts the flow. Improving the variety of cohesive links and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'inferiority complex', 'tailored', and 'wholistic development'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'clash of believers' and 'on their pace'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations and academic word choices would significantly improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the others believing they learn well'), and punctuation. For instance, the opening sentence is quite convoluted and contains several errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining the structure of complex sentences to ensure they are error-free.
