Student answer (Band 6.0)

Children’s learning abilities depend on the distinctive factors such as education environment, level of knowledge, way of delivering the ideas among students. A considerable number of people opine that kids can learn effectively when they are with similar group of people of same academic background. While others believe that adapting skills can be achieved efficiently with the diverse range of knowledge available. I firmly believe that both both ways has its own significance. This essay will discuss both views before giving my opinion in the following paragraphs.

To begin with the benefits of having an opportunity to learn with students from similar academic skills. Firstly, they get a sense of inclusiveness and mutual understanding. Their ideas and critical thinking would be more appreciated among each other. Consequently, it will boost their confidence and morale not only in classrooms but also in outer world. Moreover, they will learn various kinds of expressions, creativity and moral values. By learning with such kinds of children’s, it would assist them in decision making skills. For instance, a classroom of several students with same background leads to equalization.

On the other hand, there are substantial number of reasons to justify the idea of learning with diverse range of students from the extremely unique intellectual capacity. One of the main reasons behind this, it will boost their thinking ability and enhance their vision. They will figure the things out of their comfort zone, push their limits and get familiar with the world from different perspectives. As a result, they will be more challenging and competitive.

In conclusion, although, both opportunities play an integral part in children’s development. However, i am more inclined to believe that second idea would benefit more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument for similar-ability grouping mentions 'inclusiveness' and 'mutual understanding' but lacks concrete examples or deeper explanation of how this specifically aids learning. Similarly, the argument for diverse grouping is brief. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and lacks a summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more specific examples or logical reasoning to fully develop your points rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', to signal transitions. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To begin with the benefits of having an opportunity...'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the link between sentences could be smoother. The final paragraph is very short, which impacts the overall flow and balance of the essay structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'inclusiveness', 'integral', and 'intellectual capacity'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'adapting skills can be achieved efficiently' and 'the world from different perspectives'. There are also some minor errors in word form, such as 'children’s' used as a plural noun. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and natural collocation expected at higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'both both ways has its own significance' (repetition and subject-verb agreement error), 'a classroom of several students with same background' (missing article), and 'although, both opportunities play... However, i am...' (incorrect use of subordinating conjunctions and capitalization). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, though they do not impede communication. Increasing the accuracy of complex structures will help improve this score.
